Gear is very important in a professional recording studio. Of course, we have state of the art mics, preamps, converters, monitors, computers, compressors and software. (you'll see a complete list below) Its all great and very expensive equipment, but it is just equipment. 

By far our most important piece of gear does not come from a store. It is our studio design.  Blue Door is a purpose-built engineered space. It was designed by an acoustic engineer. (the above is the original design drawing from 2012)  All elements of the construction were made with the goal of achieving the best possible results for accurate recording of acoustic instruments and voices. We get superb results with full drum kits or with delicate voices and acoustic  instruments.

The live room has no parallel surfaces in order to eliminate standing waves. The entire construction "floats" and is not attached to the superstructure. The room has triple walls with insulation and green glue between layers. The level of construction is apparent when you enter the live room for the first time. Everyone says the same thing - "wow, it feels different in here".
